Yesterday morning, it dawned on me what an incredible amount of time I waste online sometimes, especially on all of the different social media outlets. I know that with all of the friends I have who spend lots of hours online, I’m not the only one out there guilty of getting sucked off into a cyber-tangent or reading articles off of Twitter or StumbleUpon. Thankfully, there are tool available to help us and make our work online more efficient.
Before getting to the online tools out there to help you organize your social media life, I think it’s important to make a plan and that coincides with your goals for various social media outlets. Depending on your client’s needs and goals, make a timetable for your day with allotments dedicated to whichever mediums you are working with.
For example, let’s say that you need to spend about an hour per day on Twitter to engage with your customers and maintain conversations with them. You could break up that time into 15- 20 minute intervals throughout the day, allotting each time to a specific task so that you don’t get lost in a Twitterfeed when you still have other things to do.
Now that you have you plan set and are ready to seize the work day, there are some important tools that will help make you more efficient in your social media work. On an older Cision webinar I recently watched, Matt Batt, a Principal at Pipeline, discussed using online organizers such as TweetDeck and Seesmic as a better platform for operating your Twitter account, but these programs and many others can include many more platforms than that.
What’s great about these all of these programs is that you can include so many different outlets at once. Your Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and whatever else are all neatly placed in front of you.
With the growing trend of apps becoming ever more popular as more and more people get smart phones, programs such as TweetDeck ands Seesmic can now also organize you via your cell phone so that you can work from anywhere.
One of the systems that recently jumped into this market is Drund, which is a web application management system. Not even released yet, the Drund platform allows for app management, social media aggregation, and operating system organization from anywhere.
Drund, TweetDeck and Seesmic are just a few of many, and there are lots of features to consider when going to an organization system such as these. Many of these systems also give you analytics so four online and social media life. Do you’re research about which program has what you are looking for in terms of social media platforms that you use the most and what you want to organize. Below is a list of various systems to consider:

Hi Stephanie,
social media is awesome. Social media is terrible. It can be a real time sucker if we don't have an idea what we want to achieve with it and how we spend our time best. That's what we need the right tools for – thanks for sharing them and your insights.
Take care
Oliver
